Good apologetics is only possible when one properly understands the conversational landscape and the major ideas in these different levels of conversation. Understanding these will allow you to more effectively participate in the big conversations with all people regardless of whatever level they are at.

Levels Of Conversation

LEVEL 1 Conversation

This level is for any human being who wants to explore the fundamental nature of human existence by asking questions like: What are you? What does it mean to be human? Can we really know anything about ultimate reality? How do we find meaning in life? Is there a purpose to all this? Is there some kind of higher power?

LEVEL 2 Conversation

This level is for those who believe in a higher power but are still hazy on the details of the nature of that power and explore questions like. Is this higher power knowable? Does this higher power make demands of us? What are we to make of Jesus of Nazareth?

LEVEL 3 Conversation

This is the conversation for those who seek the Jesus of the New Testament as the manifestation of God in the world. Who was Jesus? What are we to make of the New Testament? What must we do to follow him? Did he establish a church?

LEVEL 4 Conversation

This conversation is for those who believe The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christs true Church on the earth today and deals with questions like. What is the doctrine of the church today? How are we in the Church at risk today? What does living our faith look like? How do we build Zion?
